This January Garrett Middle School had 67 students participate in its annual science fair. The purpose of the fair was not just to have the students learn about the wonders of science but to allow them the opportunity to interact and answer questions from a panel of scientists, engineers and technology professionals who use science skills everyday.

The judges for the Garrett Science Fair were:

  • Cobb County Commissioner Lisa Cupid, Mechanical Engineer
  • Mr. Malcus Richards, Executive Director of the Association of Black Engineers, Scientists & Technologists (ABEST), Information Technologist/Electrical Engineer
  • Ernie Politzer of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Environmental Engineer
  • Kay Radford of Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Biologist
  • Emmanuel Jones of Southern Company, Electrical Engineer
  • Neil Smith, Information Technologist
The winners of the science fair will go to the Cobb County Science Fair on February 2, 2013
